Augustin Carrera was born in Madrid in 1878 and died in Paris in 1952.  He was a pupil of Léon Bonnat and Henri Martin at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and a member of the Society of French Artists.

In1904 he exhibited at the Salon des Independants and the Salon des Tuileries, where he entered nudes, portraits, flowers, landscapes and views of harbors.

Known as an expressionist, it is in his southern views that Carrera shows the most passion as a colorist, surprising with the liveliness of his palette, and violent and bold tones.
